ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and administering our company's computer networks. The primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. You will also be working closely with the users of TMH network in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.
Will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. They will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.
• Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
• Maintaining, administering, Installing and configuring networking hardware.
• Monitor network performance and integrity
• Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
• Mentor team members on technical issues
• Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
• Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
• Maintain complete technical documentation
• Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
• Provide network architect to design and implement functional company networks.
• Creating and implementing network security measures.
• Managing and mentoring junior Network Engineering staff.
• Conducting regular network performance tests.
• Drawing up network status reports.
• Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
• Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
• Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
• Coordinating computer network access and use.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/TECHNOLOGY USED
• Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator
• Solid background in network administration and architecture
• In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
• Familiarity with access control models and network security
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SPLUNK, SolarWinds network tools)
• Solid understanding of network infrastructure, network hardware and network operating systems
• Advanced knowledge of network operating systems including Cisco, JUNOS, and IOS.
• Knowledge of networking hardware including CPUs, wiring, and routers.
• Familiarity with communication and routing protocols.
• Proficiency with coding languages including Python and Perl.
• Dependable and flexible when necessary.
• Network security experience.
• LAN and WAN experience.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP)
• Five to 10 years of experience in network administration
• Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
• High level problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
• A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
